This is so ripe for someone to throw together a pro-Obama version.

It really is so much better when you don't know til the end what they decided to call it.

Anyone who knows me knows of my near-pathological love for The Wire. But long before I was resident Wire-ologist, I was a big fan of OZ - HBO's very first (yes, even before the fucking Sopranos) one-hour drama from the late 90s. With The Wire (aka the greatest piece of literature emerging from my lifetime) nearing the series' end, I wanted to offer this suggestion for a series, sharing many of its qualities as well as its actors, to queue up on your Netflix in order to avoid that hollowing feeling we will all inevitably experience in a few weeks. The actor crossovers alone should keep you satisfied. Who and what do they have in common?

The New York Times tells the story of how Giuliani dropped out of Battle of the Sexes 2000.

It all started after a campaign event. There, the mayor was stunned to realize that his dominatrix was also his opponent.

His supporters looked on, thinking, (left to right):

(i) "She'll never know what we shared, Rudy.";

(ii) "I will fuck her."; and

(iii) "I need to get some more of those bacon-wrapped whatevers."

A protester "attacked" Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice as she arrived to testify before the House Foreign Relations Committee.

So the State Department has essentially created a new position called "Director of Digital Media" to hire a former producer of Bill O'Reilly to upload "viral" propaganda videos to YouTube. This one could be called "High Tea with Condi Rice, Karen Hughes, and Hall of Fame baseball player Cal Ripken, Jr.," whom the Bush Administration has tapped to salvage America's image abroad. A few words of caution: this video is a train wreck.

Some classic lines:

"Well, Mr. Ripken -- let's call a spade a spade." -- State Dept. Director of Digital Media Heath Kern (Who Is Heath Kern?)

"Sports is a universal language, kind of like the arts." -- Sec. of State Condi Rice

"Hmmmm... that's a TOUGH QUESTION!" -- Cal Ripken, Jr.
