I'm sorry, but I prefer my TV and movies to be conservative sometimes. I mean outwardly conservative, like 24 or Terminator 2 or David Lynch movies.

Let's face it: in the realm of mainstream art, conservatives are more talented. Or, to put it another way, conservatives know how to make conservative art, whereas liberals only seem to know how to make... conservative art.

Take Paul Haggis's Crash, the show Boston Legal, or the newly released V for Vendetta: these are ostensibly liberal. But by failing to push aesthetic boundaries, they fail as art and rather become forms of straightforward propaganda (with questionable end-morals).

24 is great because its conservative aesthetic matches its conservative content, thus protecting the status quo artistically.

I seem to get a much more inconsistent/conflicted vibe from the show rather than an overtly conservative one, with convoluted moments of critique peppered into what is a mostly conservative veneer. Logan's "yes, I am interested in your magic beans" fickleness, for instance, seems to make more sense as a stick to Bush/Rove/Cheney rather than as a characterization of a flip-flopping Dem.

I'm imagining someone from Fox standing over the writers' desks and rapping them on the knuckles with a school-pointer-ish thing anytime they notice a deviation from fair and balanced. But hey, even Fox employees have to take a shit sometimes.

Pretty good. Though I would say that the appearance of the current Vice-President, a not so subtle poke at Dick Cheney, and the suspicious machinations of the Department of Homeland Security, a conservative darling, shows some liberal dissent on the show.

Okay so 24 is neither totally conservative nor totally liberal because it's a TV SHOW, produced by a vast number of people with varying politics - blah blah blah.
