The Week In: Tactical Solicitation -- Echelon Formation

Most people are familiar with the high numbers of working women in Saigon. That is, ladies interested in a certain kind of dalliance (and I'm not talking about the font family buster!) But on recent evening I was strolling the streets of Saigon with a Hawaiian associate, fending off the usual advances when I witnessed something rather incredible. Two motor-bike riding (or wielding) hookers. Now this would have been impressive enough, but following our polite refusals, these girls didn't just motor away. No, instead they did something quite remarkable. Let me invite the reader to examine my hand-drawn account of the scene as it unfolded below.

Even a novice tactician can see that hooker 2's initial position was strategically insignificant. But you can imagine my surprise when, having heard our initial refusals, she swept left out of her ineffective flanking position and placed herself (and her bike) into a perfect, if diminutive, echelon formation relative to her colleague. The 'sweeping staircase' effect boxed the Hawaiian and I in and allowed the two of them to make more emphatic offers.

Is it possible that this lady of the night was a student of the great Epaminondas and the celebrated Batte of Leuctra? Could she have been as inspired as I by the the glorious ingenuity of the the Theban oblique formation against the Spartan peltasts? Ah, be still my heart!
