Neo-Brutalism - Apr. 22 2010

I've made a new mix.

I could list the tracks, but you'll just have to trust me on this one (unless requested otherwise). Feel free to let the order be determined by how your unzipping program sees fit. Though, I do recommend that The Mogwai cover of Fuck Buttons end the mix. It feels more like an ender track than an in-betweener track. You'll see what I mean.

Worth noting is the backstory of Prisencolinensinainciusol. Also worth noting is how much that song rules.

I-15 -- Jan/22/10

The Animals video is something special.

Love – I Can’t Find It
Gil Scott-Heron – Me and the Devil
Charlotte Gainsbourg – Trick Pony
Darkstar – Aidy’s Girl is a Computer

Toro y Moi – Minors

jj – my way
De Tropix - Adeyhey
Hot Chip – I Feel Better
Four Tet – Love Cry (Joy Orbison Remix)

Maximum Violence Immediately

Holy flaming moose!

We've been up on the Nic Cage tip for years but it seems only as his iguanashit-insane performance in Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans is about to be released in theaters that he is getting the kind of ink he deserves. There's NYTimes' piece in which Manohla Dargis grudgingly admits to Cage's genius (despite not having seen either National Treasures), NYMag's frame-worthy pdf on the life of Cage (including personal motto: Maximum Violence Immediately), and even a Village Voice article that basically reports on the other two articles.

Now it turns out that Cage is actually a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador on Drugs and Crime, and was sent on a mission to a Kenyan prison to hear the Somali priates' side of the story. Makes sense.

The accompanying pictures beg the question:

Has Nic Cage face/off'd Dennis Hopper circa the first season on 24?

Exhibit A:

It's good to be right.
